Dear Readers,
Hello! I just got back from Krabi. Was contemplating...can I go another day without using a computer??
Me: Hey Greg, do you think I should take a break from the computer, or should I go online?
Greg: Yeah!
Me: You think I should go online?
Greg: Yeah!! Just go
Okay so here I am. Thought about blogging and writing to you all about my Krabi trip.
So here is Day 1 (photos to be uploaded later)
Day 1
Arrived in Krabi, around 10 minutes earlier than scheduled. And the moment I landed I called Mom and Dad, and afterwards I called Xinhui...their flight was delayed for 30-40 mins! Argh. Meaning that I was stranded in this airport for 3+ hours.
You know how Tom Hanks lived in the JFK Airport for...months?(or 1 month?)
Well...Tom Hanks would totally die of boredom and hang himself if he was stuck in Krabi Airport because...
*mini-SPOILER ALERT*
1. There is NOTHING TO DO THERE. (seriously)
2. There is no 'Catherine-Zeta Jones' beauty there. (Don't get me started on the quality of men in that vicinity)
3. There is only one restaurant run by THAI Airways and Dairy Queen
4. The lighting is dismal and dark (lighting has a huge affect on people's moods)
5. There are no abandon areas for him to renovate.
*mini-SPOILER ALERT*
Get my drift? So what did I do?
I spoke to the car rental company person for a while (to find more information for my friends), put on my contact lenses, put on make-up (cuz there was really nothing else to do!), had a sinful dinner at the restaurant...then.....
To kill my guilt, I powerwalked back and forth (with my shoulder-bag luggage) for 30 mins along the 2nd floor departure level. (approx. 2 minutes per lap) Everyone was looking at me like I was a mad-lady. If their plane landed any later, I would have progressed to walking lunges. ha ha!
The first 2 people that I thought I'd see rushing out of the gates are Mark and Xinhui, they turned out to be the last!!! It was nice to see everyone and gave almost all of them a big hug. Our ride to the Villa (http://www.kaleane.com/Suriya.html) was 40 mins long, and our villa was situated really deep into the hills?(is that right? hills? or...hmm, any better way to describe it? suggestions?) Truly beautiful.
When we all settled down, the welcome-drinking began. A bit of background...I've known all of them since October 2005. And, because of school, I could never go on their trips, so this was my first trip with them. And they love to differientiate themselves between 'The Veterans" and..."The N--ies" <--No it's not the N word, more like, I can't remember what they called us. I think it was Newbie. (wow thats how much I pay attention, haha)
We played Jenga, and then we all went for a swim. Quite a nice night. Lots of laughter and fun. Best memory of that night? Hmm, Eileen has a float? you know the ring floats that children use to swim? Nelson showed as trick. He got out of the pool, asked us to place the float in the middle of the pool, and he DIVED into the pool...and WENT THROUGH THE FLOAT!!! Total magic.
Maybe he was a merman in his past-life....or like...a dog? jumping through loops at dog shows?
To be continued...
